Mt Etna in Sicily

We made a weekend trip to Sicily with a mission in mind, which is to go to Mt Etna. Upon arriving at Sicily, the clear bright sky changed our plans. We decided to head up to Mt Etna straight away. On the way up, the sky started to get cloudy. We were still keeping fingers crossed, hoping to get a good view.

Looking at the snow along the side of the bendy roads leading to the base of Mt Etna. The cleared roads meant no need for chains for car tyres.

Upon reaching the base (2000mt), we decided to take a cable car ride up to the next height (2500mt). Look at how well dressed Kyven was. He was so dressed up till he couldn't really move, all stiff. But I think he looked pretty cute with this new hat.

Upon reaching 2500mt with the cable car, we were slightly disappointed. It was so foggy that we couldn't even see a thing within 200m. There were plenty of skiers around but I seriously have no idea how they ski when I couldn't even see the path clearly. Anyways, we weren't there to ski. Just hoping to get a view of the volcano. Luckily we did not join a tour as I doubt we will really enjoy it in that visibility.

On the bright side, Kyven got his first touch with snow! He was so interested in it that he kept looking at the snow ball in my hands. I'm hoping to bring him there again next winter to play with it.

I was a little concerned as the cable cars were quite worn out. But I got over it and enjoyed the rest of my cable car ride. Best advise is to join the tour when you arrived there. There is a risk of not being able to get into any tour during peak season, but it's better than going thru it in foggy weather in my opinion.

Well it was still a good trip up to Mt Etna to enjoy the snowy weather though.
