Tischi Toschi in Taormina

Food review yet again. One of the most look forward to during this Sicily trip is authentic Sicilian food. Let's start with our first dinner at Taormina. This is recommended by the receptionist at our hotel, Tischi Toschi.

It is located at one of the alleys from Umberto Corso street, just 50m away from our hotel, Porta Del Tocco Design Suites. If you are driving, it is 200m away from Porta Catania car park.

As we walk in, the one and only English speaking young waiter greeted us. Even though the chef and the other waiter do not speak English, they were still friendly and tried to provide their best service. Service was 5 stars there.

The warm and cosy ambience just makes us so relax and get ready to enjoy our dinner.

We started with 2 starters, fennel meatball and fish Tartare. Fennel meatball was really special as I haven't tried it anywhere else. Fish tartare was fresh but we tried better ones before. We felt that the starter portion were a little big though.

Next we had Ricotta Ravioli with meatball, Sardine bread crumbs pasta and rolled meat. Ricotta ravioli was freshly made, tasted awesome. I've learnt to taste the difference between freshly made and frozen ricotta ravioli. Sardine bread crumbs pasta was special in taste, if I'm right, it is quite a common pasta in Sicily. We tried it again in Syracuse town as well. It was pretty homecooked style. Meat roll was good but not fantastic.

It was a good choice for its location, near our hotel, and simple authentic Sicilian food. Not forgetting the chef is actually featured.
