Mdina - The Silent City

We made an impromptu visit to Mdina, aka The Silent City.
It is supposed to be in the centre of Malta, but doesnt seem so on the map.
Do not ask me why as I have no idea.
A small city, population of 300, surrounded by high, thick walls.
You would have guessed, the walls are meant for defense during War times.
Now it is a tourist attraction in Malta. Only authorized vehicles and people staying there are allowed to drive in.

Below are pictures taken inside the city.
The roads are of short distance followed by a turn or bend.
This is useful during war times, to attack their enemies.

At the highest point in the city. What a view.

Old and new Signboards

Look at the different doors. I think they are all traditional Maltese doors with door knockers.

Picture on the right are the ancient windows, where the structure allows people inside to attack, and blocks the attack from outside.
St Paul's Catherdral

There are some exhibitions and xperiences you can pay to visit in the Silent City. We gave it a miss as we were too tired from the beach adventure in the morning.
